Kohls second in diving at CIF meet, Lusher sixth

Fallbrook High School junior Nicholle Kohls took second place at the CIF Division I diving meet.

Kohls had a score of 196.10 on six dives to earn the second-place finish. Haley Francois of Rancho Bernardo won the meet with a score of 221.95 points while Kaitlin Benner of La Costa Canyon was third with 190.25 points. Fallbrook freshman Jamie Lusher was sixth after accumulating 157.70 points.

“Hopefully we can build on that,” said Fallbrook coach Sean Redmond.

The swimmers and divers who finished among the top twelve at the preliminaries returned for the CIF finals, which included a consolation race as well as the championship race for the top six. None of Fallbrook’s eight swimming entries placed in the top 12 at the preliminaries, although their times were improved from past swims.

“I can’t be disappointed with their improvement,” Redmond said. “It’s just getting to be a faster meet.”

The diving points placed Fallbrook 12th among the 24 Division I schools.
