Registration has started at the high school and there is a firestorm there.
The cut classes you mentioned [“New superintendent selected for FUHSD; Costs now exceed $471,690 to replace Anthony; more than 25 classes cut,” Village News, 8/708] are upper-grade, upper-level classes. Many classes are only being taught once a day.
They are referring the kids who need these classes for college requirements to MiraCosta College or Palomar. All the classes the kids would take there are two nights a week, three and a half hours a class; plus travel time.
The school also says you can take it online or at private schools, the cheapest being $500 – without books and materials.
Fallbrook High School said the classes are prioritized by low-income minority status being first. Actual ability or desire to attend a four-year university is given no consideration. They have chosen the classes that you will be forced to take elsewhere if you are a senior or junior.
It is sickening. Kids’ college plans will be in jeopardy over these changes.
