Recycling of cell phones to benefit soldiers
Last updated 8/28/2008 at Noon
On Saturday, August 30, used cell phones will be collected from 10 a.m. to noon in front of Fallbrook’s Major Market. The VFW Auxiliary and Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary are working together collecting donated cell phones for servicemen and women stationed overseas.
The cell phones are sent to a recycling company (recycling all parts), which in turn pays AT&T for calling cards for US soldiers. For each cell phone donated, one hour of calling time is available.
To request a calling card for a specific soldier overseas, call (800) 426-1031.
