OCEANSIDE — MiraCosta College continues its popular International Film Series with screenings of six films from around the world, beginning September 12 with the Chilean film “Machuca” (2004).
“Machuca” is the story of Pedro, a poor child who is integrated into a school of rich kids. The story shows the schism of racism and political clashes. This non-rated film is directed by Andres Wood.
There are two screenings of each film: Fridays at 1 p.m. in Room 204 of the San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Avenue in Cardiff, and Fridays at 7 p.m. in the Little Theatre, Room 3601, at the Oceanside campus at 1 Barnard Drive.

September 26: “Rainbow Song”

Martha, the domineering chef at a fancy restaurant, has her rigid routine broken when her sister dies in a car wreck, leaving behind her 8-year-old daughter, Lina, for Martha to raise.
The relationship between the two is portrayed with all its awkwardness and complications intact.
