Water break causes closure of Old 395

FALLBROOK — Rainbow Municipal Water District (RMWD) and the County of San Diego closed a short portion of Old Highway 395, north of Highway 76, on Friday, September 5, for repair of a broken water pipeline.

The pipeline break occurred in the wee hours of the morning and caused the loss of approximately 250,000 gallons of water, said Chuck Sneed, operations and maintenance manager for RMWD.

The break was adjacent to the Mobil station at Old Highway 395 and Highway 76.

“The break was in a pipe that was originally installed in 1978,” Sneed said. “A section of the pipe simply deteriorated.”
