Six from Troop 725 receive Eagle Award

FALLBROOK — On October 3 an exceptional Eagle Court of Honor was held for six friends who said they would wait for each other to get their Eagle Awards and they did just that.

The six are all members of Troop 725 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where the ceremony was held. The presentation of the Eagle Scout Awards was made by Tom Harris, the Venture Team Leader.

Jeff Kolb, 17, earned his Eagle Scout Award on November 11, 2006. With the help of others, he built a fence in the Los Jilgueros Preserve. The fence will help keep domestic animals out while keeping wild animals in and preserving the natural habitat.

Jacob Ricks, 17, became an Eagle in May of this year. For his project, he built a 20-foot raised section of a boardwalk in the Bonsall Preserve. The section that he chose to build was through the Fallbrook Land Conservancy.

Zachery Neilson, 18, completed his project on June 24. He designed and built an interlocking stone pathway for the Fallbrook Land Conservancy at the Palomares House.

Daniel Arnold, 16, also received his Eagle ranking on June 24. With the help of fellow scouts and their fathers, he covered 500 square feet with brick pavers around planter boxes at Fallbrook Street Elementary School. The students are now planting with gray and red pavers around them instead of mud and dirt.

Russell Barrett, 17, passed his board of review for his Eagle Scout on September 16. For his project he chose to complete six submersible swim benches to be used for swim lessons in the Community Swimming Pool at Fallbrook High School.

Chris Rumsey, 17, passed his board of review on September 23. For his Eagle Project he put in a garden at Bonsall Elementary School. After he developed a plan, 22 scouts helped him build the garden, which was designed to help with the second grade science curriculum.

Ray Kolb, a former scoutmaster, gave the Eagle Charge.

“Years from now you will look at your medal and it won’t mean that much to you,” he said, “but you will always remember the times that you spent with each other on the road to getting that award.”
