CalTrans to place historic interest signs on I-15

The town of Fallbrook is richly steeped in history, although many in Southern California have never taken the time to visit our friendly village. Community activist Tom Casey has negotiated an agreement with CalTrans to put “Historic Route 395 next exit” signs before the Mission Road off-ramps on Interstate 15 so that passersby become encouraged to visit downtown Fallbrook.

These signs would bring business to Fallbrook, as many motor club enthusiasts and vacationers look for historic routes and towns to visit while traveling. Should this signage get placed, to my knowledge they will be the only historic point of interest directives on the entirety of Interstate 15 in San Diego County. This is a wonderful opportunity that should not be ignored.

The cost of the signs is $1,500 and with the help of generous donations from Mr. Casey and the Fallbrook Historical Society, almost one-third of the amount needed has already been collected. Please support this worthy cause by making donations payable to CalTrans and drop them off at the Fallbrook Historical Society, South Hill Avenue at Rockycrest Road, or mailed to the Fallbrook Historical Society, PO Box 1375, Fallbrook, CA 92088.

Please support your local economy. Donate today. Thank you.
