They really blew it

Have you ever had one of those days where you just feel like you’ve totally blown it beyond repair? We have all had those days when we feel like the cards are stacked against us and we just can’t seem to do anything right. We feel like failures.

But no matter how bad you’ve blown it, nobody has blown it worse than Adam and Eve. They hold the record for the biggest mess up ever. If you stop and think about it for a second, you actually start feeling better about yourself.

All they had to do in their entire lives was obey one simple little command: “Don’t eat from the bad tree.” That’s all they had to do. How hard could it have been? They never had to worry about a house payment, credit cards, clothes, Facebook, sin, or in-laws. They had it made.

But they didn’t get it right. They did exactly the opposite of what God had told them to do, and they ate from the bad tree. They really blew it, just like we all have.

Scripture tells us that everyone has blown it at one time or another, but even though we’ve blown it, we can still be made right with God. It says “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard…” (Romans 3:22-24)

It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only one who has sinned in life. It also makes me feel better to know that even though I’ve made some pretty bad decisions in my life, I can still be made right with God. In the end it’s my standing with God that matters. He sees us as perfect, not as failures.
