FUESD offers Jump Start Kindergarten

FALLBROOK – If a child was too young for kindergarten in August, he/she might be eligible for Jump Start.

Jump Start is a program that offers curriculum that provides children opportunities to learn by being actively involved with developmentally appropriate materials in the areas of language arts and mathematics.

It is the goal of the Jump Start program to provide a pre-kindergarten experience that will assist the child’s academic and social readiness for a kindergarten class the following school year.

To qualify, a child must be five years old between December 3, 2012 and February 1, 2013.

The Jump Start program will be offered at Fallbrook Street School and Mary Fay Pendleton. Registration will begin at these two sites between Jan. 7 and Jan. 31, 2013.

To register a child requires proof of residence, birth certificate and immunization records. Students will be selected for participation on a first come, first served basis.

The Jump Start class will begin on Feb. 4, 2013. For more information, call the educational services department at (760) 731-5414.
