Educationally Speaking Aug. 2013

Thank you! These are two words that cannot begin to fully express the appreciation of the Fallbrook Union High School District and its schools for the generosity of our community. You continue to recognize needs and respond by donating your time, energy, resources, and money to support student learning and to provide attractive campuses. Let me illustrate a few examples.

On the weekend of August 17-18, approximately eighty (80) volunteers from Riverview Church, PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student Association) and the FHS Football Boosters Club were working at Fallbrook High School, Oasis High School, and the District Office. Both young and old were working side by side pruning bushes, trimming planter areas, weeding, power-washing, and painting in order to enhance the attractiveness of our facilities.

A project that is also benefiting from the community’s generosity is the press box. Under the leadership of John Ransbury as the general contractor, the press box is getting closer to becoming a reality. Though some delays have occurred because of needed permissions from the State of California, many community members have already donated time, materials, and resources to prepare the foundation, pour cement, create the footings, and begin the framing work. Many more volunteers are scheduled to step forward in order to complete the project. Special thanks to the FHS Football Boosters Club and to Sam Logan for their efforts to raise funds to pay for materials. It also appears that the project will receive a $50,000 donation from the NFL which will help pay for more materials.

“14” is the number you see painted in red on the Rattlesnake water storage tank west of South Mission Rd.. Annually, the Fallbrook Public Utility District (FPUD) updates the number to honor the senior class. In this case, the Class of 2014 is being recognized. Thank you, FPUD for your generosity and support of our students.

The above are only a few examples of the community’s generosity. The Student of the Month recognition program, the agriculture program, the band program, and the multitude of athletic teams are all examples of being the beneficiary of our community investing in our students and schools.

Thank you for being a community that recognizes needs and responds with support!
