Ratnavira's 'Jewel of Brazil' chosen by National Geographic Society

A bronze sculpture created by Fallbrook artist Gamini Ratnavira has been selected as one of the top five bronze sculptures for the National Geographic Society exhibit. The Hyacinth Macaw “Jewel of Brazil” was Ratnavira’s first bronze done at the Fallbrook foundry Artworks of Fallbrook. Ratnavira hit a grand slam, as it was chosen as one of only five sculptures for the National Geographic Society. The venue is the Society of Animal Artists Sculpture courtyard of the National Geographic Society, just off DuPont Circle not far from the White House in Washington, DC. Ratnavira’s sculpture will be on display there for one year, from June 1, 2005, to May 31, 2006.

Gamini Ratnavira is a sculptor, born and raised in tropical Sri Lanka and has exhibited his tropical artwork internationally. He has traveled to over 40 countries capturing the wildlife and environment he loves to depict. He lives in Fallbrook with wife Lisa and children Natalie, Beau and Brook.
