Lady Warriors beat Marauders, Titans

On Tuesday night, February 20, the Fallbrook varsity girls basketball team hosted the Mira Mesa Marauders in the first round of CIF playoffs. The Warriors defeated the Marauders 67-48. The Warriors, led by four starting seniors, played an outstanding game as they dominated throughout. The game began with Marshai Iverson receiving the tip-off, followed by Tiffany Hunter getting the lead for the Warriors with the first four points. The first half as a whole was rough and very exciting, as there was much frustration by Mira Mesa. The score at half was 38-24.

The second half was just as exciting, as the Warriors put in many of their players, played hard physically and maintained their lead. The game was dominated by Tiffany Hunter, who was all over the floor rebounding, shooting and assisting others. The game continued to be very rough and Mira Mesa received technical fouls for dirty play. The final score was 67-48.

Some of the standouts of the game included: Tiffany Hunter (26 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, 1 block), Brooke Harlin (9 points, 7 rebounds), Kaitlyn Gagnath (10 points, 4 steals), Natalie Zepeda (11 points, 4 rebounds) and Marshai Iverson (8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals).

The Warriors moved on to face the third-ranked Poway Titans for the quaterfinals. The game took place on Friday, February 23, where the Warriors were successful once again. They won the game 64-52, as they were led by senior Tiffany Hunter, who scored 20 points and had 17 rebounds.

Fallbrook, who has not won CIF for 25 years, looks to end this streak, as they have moved on to the semifinals against Helix. Look to see if our Warriors have made it to the finals, which are on Saturday, March 3, at 6:05 p.m. at Jenny Craig Pavilion at USD. Come support the Warriors!
