Authors to appear at Art of the Book

Fourteen authors from around the Southern California region will join the Friends of the Fallbrook Library at Art & The Book, a one-day festival featuring the sale of rare, collectible and first edition books, Sunday, April 1, in downtown Fallbrook.

On hand to discuss their writing and meet readers in person will be:

• Novelist Bridget Blanton, author of “Whispers on the Wind,” a love story

• Nutritionist Dr. Christine Farlow, whose nonfiction book, “Dying to Look Good,” looks at the chemicals in cosmetics and toiletries

• Rebecca Farnbach, whose popular “Images on America” series about localities will soon include a Fallbrook edition

• Randall Hicks, author of the fictional novel “The Baby Game” and well-known nonfiction books “Adopting in America: How to Adopt Within One Year” and “Adopting in California: How to Adopt Within One Year”

• Terry Dennis, “The Manual: A Guide for Men in the 21st Century”

• Kirby Wright, author of “Punahou Blues,” a novel set in Hawaii, and “Before the City,” a collection of poems

• Sarah Bates and Carmi Cosmos, co-authors of “Out of Our Minds: Wild Stories by Wild Women,” a collection of 16 short fiction stories

• Adrienne Armstrong, “Backstage with the Original Hollywood Square”

• Arch Barnes, who wrote the book “Unconscious” and its new sequel, “Blood Brothers”

• Richard Overturf, author of “Thanks, Ely! How Callaway and the Big Bertha Revolutionized Golf”

• Author Joe Littell

• Wil Gower, whose book “Lessons to Be Happy and Successful” was just published

• Mary Stevens, author of “Gemini’s Favorite Things,” along with Gemini, her canine companion and “reading” dog. Stevens and Gemini will hold a children’s storytime at 2 p.m. in the Village Square.

Art & the Book will also include a special exhibition at the Art Center; displays by local artists, the Fallbrook Historical Society and the Fallbrook Music Society; and live music, workshops and demonstrations. The library will offer children’s crafts activities from 1 to 4 p.m. and the Fallbrook Gem & Mineral museum and gift shop will be open featuring children’s books on minerals and fossils.
