SOF brings green to Fallbrook on St. Patrick's Day

FALLBROOK — This St. Patrick’s Day was an appropriate time for tree planting downtown. The event was a model in cooperation, for which Fallbrook has become known. Trees were needed on the newly widened section of South Mission Road and Fallbrook’s Save Our Forest (SOF) put together a shade tree planting project involving its volunteers, property owners and a grant from the California “ReLeaf” Project.

Thirty volunteers and property owners of Village Market, Century 21 and Fallbrook Country Inn worked together to plant 21 trees in record time. Impetus for planting completion was a full “curbside” breakfast provided by SOF volunteers Heidi and Don Nelson.

Since 1995 SOF has planted 650 trees in downtown Fallbrook and, since 1993, nearly 6,500 in the greater Fallbrook area.
