Boys' basketball has one heart

A successful team beats with one heart. These words define and embody the motto of the 2009-2010 Fallbrook High varsity boys’ basketball team.

The team, coached by Jeff Brandow, has been practicing diligently during the off season and is ready to start their upcoming season. The Warrior team, led by Danny Bashara and Brian Gordon, is comprised of four seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and one freshman.

When the varsity team is not practicing basketball or playing in summer and fall leagues, they are giving back to the community of Fallbrook. They have held numerous basketball camps and on Sunday, November 8, they helped 20 Cub Scouts earn their basketball badge.

Five team members took time out of their busy schedule to assist these kids in their endeavor. These athletes on the basketball team are not only positive on the court but also off the court as they try to become united as a team.

“The team has well above a 3.0 grade point average and is involved in AP classes, Link Crew, ASB and other varsity sports,” said Brandow. “I am very proud of how hard these student athletes have worked on and off the court.”

The Warriors know that they will be successful if they continue to live by their motto and live by Coach Brandow’s goal of “getting better every day and being the hardest working team in San Diego County.”

In order to keep motivated, the Warriors would like to have the stands filled for each and every game. All the players have worked hard and will continue to strive for excellence on their way to the playoffs.

“I am super excited about the guys I am playing with and we are working hard to get to the playoffs this year,” said Kyle Hoganson.

The Warriors will take the court for the first time on November 25 for the annual Alumni Scrimmage at 7 p.m. Do not miss out on this great event, which showcases the past, present and future of Fallbrook basketball. See this season’s full schedule with this article.
