FFA elects Greenhand officers

FALLBROOK – On Oct. 27, Fallbrook FFA held their monthly chapter meeting. They have meetings to discuss upcoming events, bring back old business, and talk about new business within the chapter. For their October meeting they held a costume contest and Greenhand elections.

A greenhand is a first year student who meets certain requirements such as maintaining a 2.0 GPA, paying their activity fee, and giving a two-minute speech to their peers on why they should be elected. A greenhand shadows one of the nine chapter officers to understand more about the assigned position.

The nine greenhand officers that were elected were Abi Perdew, president; Cody Doyle, vice president; Wil Scarbrough, sentinel; Jacey Denny, reporter; Mary Boyd, secretary; Megan Edgar, treasurer; Alejandra Balladaries Rios, historian; Zach Martinez, parliamentarian; and Alexis Nolte, chaplain.

These students will work with the chapter officers at chapter meetings and banquets. Greenhand historian Alejandra Balladaries Rios said, “I’m really excited to get more involved with the FFA because it’s something greater than just high school and could possibly lead to a future career.” Chapter officers look forward to hosting an amazing year with their Greenhand officers.
