Fallbrook's annual vintage car show declared "best in the west" - 46th annual event to take place Sunday, May 29 at Potter Jr. High school

FALLBROOK – It comes as no surprise that the Antique Automobile Club of America has declared the annual Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) car show to be “the most successful of its kind west of the Mississippi River.”

“Both the car club and many residents of Fallbrook are rightly proud of this distinction,” said Tom Conley, a member of

the FVCC.

This year’s event, the 46th annual, will be held this Sunday, May 26, on the field of Potter Junior High School, 1743 Reche Road in Fallbrook. It will include about 300 vintage cars (25 years or older) that will be judged in over 25 categories. The show cars will be placed in categories defined as stock, modified, muscle or pony. The winner in each category will be awarded a trophy and there will be some honorary awards made by local dignitaries following the formal judging. Vintage cars will also be for sale in a special location called the Car Corral.

This year, for the first time, there will be a featured vehicle included in the show. The featured class will be “Woodies” and most of them will be displayed in a special section of the field.

Gates open at the event at 6:30 a.m. so that show cars can be put into position. The general public is admitted at 9:30 a.m. Award presentations will begin at 2 p.m. School policy prohibits smoking, alcohol, drugs and dogs on the premises.

In addition to cars, the event includes a large swap meet, several food vendors (breakfast and lunch), a raffle, music from the 1950s and 60s, and car show memorabilia for sale.

Proceeds from the annual show are distributed to a wide variety of charities in Fallbrook throughout the year.
