Alumni back in action - Even years take the win in FUHS Baseball Alumni Game from page 1

FALLBROOK – Alumni spanning three decades from the Fallbrook Union High School baseball program got together on Saturday, June 29 for the fourth annual alumni game at Duke Snyder Field on campus. Notable attendees included Clark Murphy (2008) and Troy Cate (1998), Warriors who have represented Fallbrook High at the professional level.

The teams were divided into graduates of even years vs. odd years. This year, the “Even’s” avenged their one run loss from the year before and took the win, 6 to 4.

Players of the game with multiple hits included Chip LaChat (2012), Mark Tavano (2000), Sonny Hughey (2008), Shawn Sanford (2007), and Ethan Province (2008).

Keenan McCollom (2007) blasted a solo shot deep into the trees for team “Odd” in the top of the seventh to bring the game to 5 to 4. However the “Even’s” pitching was able hold off the “Odd’s” for the remainder of the game, leaving the tying runs on base in the eighth and ninth innings.

The 2013 alumni game was a success and has become an annual event past and current Warriors look forward to in order to re-connect and play America’s pastime.

“The game is an entertaining community event celebrating the past, present, and future of the Fallbrook High School baseball program,” said one participant. Funds raised through raffle prizes and concessions are donated to the current program.

Sponsors of the game included Fallbrook Heating and Air, Clay Brittain Mobile Auto, Fallbrook Golf Course, Diamond Auto Repair, BP Battery, Yogurt Palace and more.

It is hoped that future games will help raise funds for the current baseball program at Fallbrook High School.
