Boys' Villa U8 soccer team wins Presidio Cup

FALLBROOK – After a challenging season, the Fallbrook Villa U8 Boys’ soccer team claimed the championship title at the Presidio Cup Tournament the weekend of Dec. 7 and 8.

At the awards ceremony, Coach Carlos Gonzalez commended the opposing teams, while reminding the Villa boys where they had started. “When I decided to try and create a boy’s Villa U8 soccer team, I had about four kids who were interested and I had to actively recruit to even get a team together. We went from losing every game at our first tournament to winning the whole Presidio Cup,” said Gonzalez.

With two-hour practices twice a week since May, and games and/or tournaments every weekend for the past three months, members of the Villa U8 boys’ team have certainly earned their trophy.
