How to stop pickpockets

FALLBROOK – To avoid losing items to pickpockets, Sheriff’s Dept. crime prevention specialist John McLelland recommends that men put a rubber band around their wallet to make it difficult for a pickpocket to steal it. His advice to women, he said is “always carry your purse between your arm and your body. Always pay attention to your surroundings to avoid potential trouble.”

He also encourages people to report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Department.
