Christ the King welcomes 'Pastor Mike'

FALLBROOK – For those who have “COVID” blues, who are finding it hard to find their smile even when they take off that mask, who are tired of all the division and discord in this country and need someone to help get that smile back, Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook is excited to announce it has a new pastor, Mike Anderson, who can help.

According to parishioner Dr. Mark Hoffman, Anderson is driven by a heart of love and care for people from all walks of life, especially those who have become disconnected from their relationship with God and the church. He said he has already fallen in love with Fallbrook and the sense of community he feels here.

Anderson said, “The church in North American has become consumer driven. We often are more worried about keeping our own members happy than reaching out to those who are lost, downtrodden and broken-hearted. Someone has said, ‘The church is the only institution that exists for those outside its four walls.’ If that is true, the church needs to do a better job of being relevant to the felt needs of the people in its community.”

He said he is very excited to be a pastor on the staff at Christ the King because the community that gathers there has a similar heart for all people regardless of their religious or non-religious background.

Recently the church offered a sermon series called “The Case for Faith,” in which the church looked at the toughest objections people have with the Christian faith. People were invited to openly discuss these and their own objections in a safe place without fear of judgement. Anderson said, “It was a great series where we could ask hard questions about what we believe in and realize there are plausible answers for even the toughest questions we all have.”

Christ the King is planning to offer a movie night at the Mission Theater in Fallbrook this summer. The movie is called “Greater.” It is a wholesome movie about the real life story of Brandon Burlsworth, who became a “walk-on” football player at University of Arkansas against all odds. It is appropriate for people of all ages, www.greaterthemovie.com.

Anderson also taped an interview with the Village News, which can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/user/ValleyNewsNetwork.

He said he would love to get to know nonparishoers as well. Anyone who would like to reach out to him, can email him at [email protected]. To read his daily blog, go to www. Pastormikeandersons.blogspot.com.
