Betty Richardson

Betty Richardson passed away peacefully on November 27, 2007, in Santa Barbara at the age of 87.

A former resident of Fallbrook (1986-2002), she was born Betty Lee Meritt in Washington state and moved to Glendale, CA, at the age of four. At 15 she entered Pomona College, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1940, and a year later married her sweetheart, fellow chemistry major John Richardson, who died in 1992.

Raising a daughter and son, they lived variously in Whittier and Fullerton, Holland, Japan and Brazil but always remained devoted Californians. Retirement brought them to Fallbrook.

Betty was a lover of mountains and desert, Sierra Club, wildflower enthusiast, piano player (Chopin), book lover (Friends of the Library and Book Club), tailor, bridge player, word puzzler, math and science whiz and dearly loved mother.

She is survived by daughter Sally of Seattle and son Steve of South Lake Tahoe.
