Holiday happenings in historic downtown

FALLBROOK — Enjoy a variety of holiday activities, suitable for the entire family, in downtown Fallbrook this season.

Local merchants, the Chamber of Commerce and organizations continue to work on efforts to provide a variety of opportunities sure to delight everyone from children to seniors.

• Nov. 29 – 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Photos with Santa presented by Fallbrook Woman’s Club at 238 West Mission Road. Get two photos ($10) taken by Ahrend Studios in the club’s historic side-loading carriage (circa 1872).

• Nov. 29 – 4 to 7 p.m. – Visits with Santa in the Village Square (Main and Alvarado), community tree lighting, holiday caroling by members of the Fallbrook Chorale, horse and buggy rides. Sponsored by merchants in historic downtown.

• Dec. 5 – 4 to 7 p.m. – Customer Appreciation Night sponsored by merchants in historic downtown. Horse and buggy rides down Main, unique festivities at individual shops.

• Dec. 6 – 12 to 4 p.m. – Visits with Father Christmas in “Dickens Village” (Jackson Square, 100 block North Main). No cost; refreshments served. Bring own cameras to snap photos.

• Dec. 6 – 5 p.m. – Annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade. Begins on Ammunition; proceeds northbound on Main to Ivy. Features marching bands, floats, special guests and more. Sponsored by Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

• Dec. 10-12, 17-19 – Carolers dressed in Dickens-themed attire singing holiday songs in and near “Dickens Village.”

• Dec. 12 – Open house at Ticky-Boo Tea Shoppe, a Victorian mercantile, in “Dickens Village.”

• Dec. 12 – 6 p.m. – Gents’ Shopping Evening & Repast at Ticky-Boo Tea Shoppe.

• Dec. 13 – Teddy Bear Tea in “Dickens Village” at Courtyard Café & Tea Room. Each attendee encouraged to bring own teddy bear as well as a stuffed animal to be donated to a children’s hospital. Seatings at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Cost and reservations: (760) 451-2343.

• Dec. 13 – 4 to 7 p.m. – Holiday Gift Walk organized by Fallbrook Area Visitors Bureau.

• Dec. 20 – 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Tea with Father Christmas at Courtyard Café & Tea Room. Cost and reservations: (760) 451-2343.
