Melvin "Mel" Bulick

Melvin "Mel" Bulick, age 97, died of natural causes Monday, June 15, at his home in the Silvergate Community in Fallbrook.

Born in West Virginia to parents of Montenegrin-Serbian descent, he developed a strong sense of respect and love of country. He proudly served in the Army as a medical corpsman during World War II in the liberation of Europe, stationed in Wrexham, Wales.

In 1952, Mel was fortunate to find Vivian Kirkpatrick whom he married, and they spent 57 wonderful years together raising their three children in the San Fernando Valley.

Mel was known for his firm handshake, sparkling smile and joie de vivre. He enjoyed the game of golf, swing music and dancing, the great outdoors and a good read.

Mel was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rites Mason who made Master Mason Sept. 1, 1960, at the Parkside Lodge 217 in New Jersey and was affiliated and active with the Fallbrook Lodge 317. He and Vivian were members of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian; his beloved son, Mark and sister Jean. His sister, Louise Schumacher, survives. He is also survived by his son Michael and his daughter Melissa and her husband Bill.

There are no public services scheduled. Those wishing to make a donation in his honor, please consider the California Masonic Foundation, the Fallbrook Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Everyone can honor the passing of the Greatest Generation by raising Old Glory on all holidays.

"We'll meet again, Don't know where, Don't know when, But I know we'll meet again some sunny day..." – sung by Vera Lynn in 1941.
