Fallbrook for the organically inclined

It has been quite the year of hard work with both of us working fulltime plus running a small organic farm, so I decided that my husband and I would take a day off and give ourselves a well deserved pamper. Where to go? We did not fancy going into San Diego and dealing with all that noise and traffic, so I planned a day in Fallbrook! And we are so happy with the way it turned out we just have to share with the intelligent and provocative group of readers of the Village News!

We began by taking my disgusting “teacher’s” car to the Fallbrook Carwash for a “detail.” My car had never had one before so I did not know what to expect but it sounded like a pampering to me. They said it would take six hours! No problem. We were there all day.

We also took my husband’s truck to Fallbrook Auto Parts to get a new radiator, and the folks there were very nice and friendly.

Next we walked to the Fallbrook Yoga Center and had a great, relaxing class. We were recommended to check out the Café des Artistes for lunch, so we did. Great choice! Homemade creamy mushroom soup (no beef!), wild salmon with an organically grown green salad and homemade bread and a fresh fruit custard tart for dessert — awesome! And the owners were friendly, upbeat and make great coffee!

After lunch we sauntered to pick up the truck and dropped it off for a well deserved wash at the Fallbrook Carwash.

Again we walked across the street to the Fallbrook Wellness Spa. Whenever anyone asks me what I want for Christmas, it’s always a gift certificate to this place. Finally in September, we were going to get massaged! I chose the combination of hot rocks and deep tissue. My husband got a combo of deep tissue plus stretching for all those tired, stiff muscles. I always get there early so that I can take advantage of their state-of-the-art sauna built without any toxic glues and always impeccably clean. I think we might have oozed out, smelling and feeling great!

When I arrived at the Fallbrook Carwash, I did not recognize my car! Every nook and cranny had been washed, polished, rubbed and scrubbed! Even the glove compartment had been cleaned out and my junk put in a plastic bag. Of course, as an “organically inclined,” I had requested no perfumes. There it sat, looking gorgeous. So I slid into the driver’s seat, turned on my favorite CD and glided home.

Thank you, Fallbrook, for giving us such a wonderful day.

Jacqueline and

Michael Develle
