Four concerts remain in Americana Music Series - 'Songs of Joni Mitchell' July 21

Fallbrook Americana Music Series is now in its seventh year as an all-volunteer group sponsoring acoustic concerts at Hilltop Center.

Four concerts remain in the 2007 lineup: Robin Adler and David Blackburn with friends presenting “The Songs of Joni Mitchell” July 21 at 7:30 p.m., Golden Bough on August 24, Oceans Apart on September 15 and Dave Stamey on October 20.

The upcoming Robin Adler and David Blackburn concert will feature Adler, a Fallbrook resident since 1967, performing an ambitious selection of material by Joni Mitchell, iconic Canadian singer-songwriter, guitarist and painter whose fascinating career began about the same year.

Adler and her husband, multi-instrumentalist, music producer and guitar/drum teacher Dave Blackburn, have been lifelong fans of Mitchell and in early 2006 embarked on an extensive project of learning her music in all its complexities and through all its epochs, hoping to honor such a major artist with a tribute show deep in its own right. They assembled a group of extraordinary musicians to be the “Joni Band” and have evolved fresh arrangements of well-known Mitchell standards such as “Woodstock,” “Both Sides Now” and more. The band is comprised of Adler, Blackburn, Barnaby Finch, Duncan Moore, Evan Sumpges, Peggy Watson and Brittney Doehring.

Fallbrook Americana Music Series (FAMS) organizers recently thanked the Sheriff’s Department’s Senior Volunteers for their service to it and other community groups. The purpose of FAMS is to compliment the Fallbrook classical music community by hosting artists on acoustic guitar, fiddle, banjo and the like.

FAMS concerts take place at the Hilltop Center, 331, East Elder. For information call (760) 723-7255 or visit http://www.fams.us. Concert tickets are available at Major Market and at the door.
