Sally Ann Fleming

Sally Ann Fleming, 69, passed away on October 23, 2008, in Fallbrook shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. She will be forever loved and missed.

She is survived by son Donald Fleming of Fallbrook; daughter Mary Katherine Cabezut of Laytonville, CA; brothers Ronald Simpson of Fallbrook and James Russell Simpson of Yucca Valley; baby sister Rebekah Holkesvig of Greenwater, WA; grandchildren Matthew and Chelsea; and many nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, her eldest brother, Kenneth H. Simpson, Jr., followed her in death a week after she passed away.

Sally was born in San Diego on November 20, 1938, to Kenneth and Maxine Simpson of Fallbrook. Her great-great-grandparents were Henry and Martha Gird, early founders of the town of Fallbrook. She attended school locally until she graduated from FUHS in 1956. Shortly thereafter she married Robert Fleming and became a mother to two lovely children. After her divorce, she was a single mom attending San Diego State University, where she graduated in 1972 with a BA in theater arts.

In later years, she moved to Laytonville, in Northern California, where she worked and passionately pursued her love of weaving. She was known by all for her stubborn nature, generous spirit and unconditional love.

There will be a celebration of her life (and Ken Jr.’s) at Live Oak Park on Saturday, November 22, from noon to 4:30 p.m. It will be a potluck, so bring a dish and many memories to share.

Donations may be made in their name to: Live Oak Park Coalition, PO Box 2974, Fallbrook, CA 92088.
