FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society will meet November 12 at 7 p.m. at 123 West Alvarado Street, Suite B. Speaker will be Scott Kardel, the public affairs coordinator for Palomar Observatory.

Kardel will speak on the history of the observatory, a story which brought a lot of publicity to the county during its construction and unlocked many of the most guarded secrets of the cosmos.

Research on the mountain still continues and the observatory, with its famous 200-inch Hale telescope, remains one of the most important eyes into the heavens.
