Encore Club provides a bright spot even during trying times

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Encore Club offers the special comfort of fun and friendships, warm gatherings, interesting activities and laughter. Though it is a social club, it has also come to mean so much more for those members who may be going through periods of isolation, illness, or grief. Friends may need a helping hand, a phone call or a visit until they are able to resume participating in all of the fun. It is a blessing to find that the are not alone and that their Encore friends step up to help

Encore Club welcomes new members at any time from the communities of Fallbrook, Rainbow, DeLuz and Bonsall. Regular meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1620 S. Stage Coach Lane. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m., when everyone has a chance to visit and to sign up to join upcoming activities. The meeting begins at 10:00 and usually includes an interesting speaker from the community.

The next meeting will be Nov. 2. The program will be a joint panel with North County Fire and the Sheriff's Department discussing crime prevention, personal safety, protecting the home and property and learning the skills of CPR. These are timely topics of community concern.

Some of the club activities offered always include the regular favorites of various games, enjoying dining together, and a book club. There are also activities that vary from month to month. The"GO" activity for November will be visiting Alta Vista Botanical Gardens in Vista, walking the beautiful grounds followed by lunch at the popular Yellow Deli. Encore "Wanderers" will be heading out to Tombstone, Arizona for four days in November. They also have an exciting cruise planned for next summer, traveling from Vancouver to Anchorage aboard the Celebrity Millennium.

The calendar also includes special events during the year, with the Halloween "Monster Bash" and several Christmas season festivities also planned. Details for all of the activities are available in the club newsletter, produced each month by editor Carole Parker, a task in which she excels.
