Boys & Girls Clubs of North County raises over $190,000

FALLBROOK – For a few magical hours last Saturday night, the Grand Ballroom at Pechanga Resort Casino transformed into the USS Great Futures, to raise funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of North County.

Over 230 guests, volunteers and staff came together at the Boys & Girls Club cruise-themed fundraiser for one reason, to support the kids. Those in attendance helped raise over $190,000!

From the moment the doors opened, the room filled with excitement as guests were thrilled to be back in-person to celebrate Fallbrook’s most prestigious charity event.

“It was so good to see all of our friends in-person again,” said Boys & Girls Clubs of North CountyBrian Astredo. “We were happy to have several new friends join us at this year’s event including Senator Brian Jones, and Supervisor Jim Desmond.”

The Club took a moment out of the evening to recognize past Board President Rex Bright, long-time club supporter Mike Reed and former staff member Miss Esmeralda who passed away over the last year.

The evening also included Boys & Girls Clubs of North County CEO Allison Barclay honoring a few critical community partners.

This year, the club recognized Fallbrook Union Elementary School District with their “Helping Hands” award for their outstanding efforts in partnering with the club to shape the lives of Fallbrook’s youth. Barclay then recognized Kalina Torrez with the “Volunteer of the Year” award for her tireless support of the club and her instrumental role in the success of the club’s fundraisers dating back to 2013.

The final award of the evening, the “Champion of Youth,” is presented to an individual that has provided exceptional service to the club and community is the highest honor the club can bestow on an individual. This year the award was presented to the current board president, Dale Mitchell, for the incredible support he has provided Barclay during her tenure as the club’s CEO, and for the impact Mitchell is having on the lives of the youth in Fallbrook.

Perhaps the highlight of the evening came when sisters, Linda, Yolanda and Andrea Bailon shared with the crowd the impact that the club has had on each of their lives and their family. “All three of us are grateful to the Club for our great futures,” said Andrea Bailon.

“We are incredibly grateful to our Fallbrook community for their unwavering and generous support of our kids and families,” said Barclay. “Our mission, to help all kids achieve their dreams would not be possible without our long-time supporters and new friends here with us tonight.”
