Valary Edgar has strong real estate background

There is a history of real estate talent in Valary Edgar’s family, and she most definitely inherited this gene. Many years ago, her father owned a construction company and was partners in a real estate company in Poway.

“I grew up around real estate,” said Edgar. By buying land, building homes and selling them, she witnessed firsthand how her father was able to retire when he was a mere 35 years old.

Initially, Edgar did not follow the real estate path. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, being a professional model, and diving into other business ventures, Edgar was at a crossroads with her career. She remembered her father telling her, “You should sell real estate.” And so she did.

Edgar took the real estate industry by storm with her strong business acumen. “I used to be one of the top one-percent of agents nationwide,” she said. Throughout her career, she received numerous prestigious rewards, was Regional Director of Realty World Broker Network and authored several articles in the Times Advocate publication.

About 11 years ago, Edgar sidestepped the hustle and bustle of her career when she gave birth to twins; they literally kept her hands full. Now that the children are growing older, Edgar is starting to increase her clientele.

“I am ready to notch it up again,” she said.

The real estate industry is a perfect fit for Edgar, as she is a “people person.” Because of her rock-solid background in the field, she is a devout believer in real estate: “Land really does seem to hold its value.” Edgar does not seem affected by the slowness of the market right now, since its current state is reminiscent of the early 1990s. She understands that real estate is a cyclical business.

“I do have faith that over the long haul it will hold its value,” she said with a smile.

At this time in the market, Edgar advises sellers to price their homes very competitively. “Don’t overprice it and have it sit on the market like day-old bread,” she cautioned.

Edgar’s recommendation for buyers remains staunch: get pre-approved and be a strong, good buyer. Despite what playing field a homeowner or future homeowner is playing on, Edgar urges to find an agent who is experienced, trustworthy and will negotiate well.

Edgar enjoys selling luxury homes but admits how she treasures helping first-time buyers.

“There is nothing like first-time buyers; they are so excited,” she enthused. Witnessing that “pride of ownership” for these new homeowners is always an inspiration for this seasoned agent/broker.

Edgar’s family history also enables her to be a visionary when viewing a piece of land. In fact, she and her husband have built three of their own homes. “I can really see what can happen with raw land.”

Edgar not only knows all the nuances of the real estate industry, but her track record reveals a remarkable talent in all aspects of this field and is exceptional in marketing.

“I know real estate and I really love what I do.”
