  • Standing accused

    Updated Oct 9, 2008

So, there I sat praying and miserable. At least God would understand. Surely he would have an answer. I was convinced that through prayer, this difficult situation would be handled; the person who was not cooperating and causing such upset would be convicted or God would show me a way to handle this ordeal. As I sat in my angelic position, pleading with God, eyes closed, I got this image of Jesus standing between my bed and the dresser, his head cast down and heavy from an enormous crown of thorns. He wore only a white...

  • The hardship of planning

    Updated Oct 9, 2008

Every fall as the weather begins to change and the nights become cooler, it always starts me thinking of the upcoming holidays just around the corner. This is truly my favorite time of year; however, with this comes a great deal of busyness which requires a great deal of planning. At times it can feel overwhelming to the point that I start asking myself, “Why am I even doing this?” (Sometimes I get a little “attitudy.”) So many plans with so many people who are affected by so many decisions can weigh heavily on a person. Some...

  • New Homecoming format debuts

    Updated Oct 9, 2008

When the Fallbrook Warriors celebrate Homecoming this weekend, it will be the first of a new era – one without the pageantry of tissue-paper-covered floats and bursts of steam from make-believe volcanoes, but one that will highlight the tremendous contribution local high school students can make to their community. The change of format for Homecoming was made because the new state-of-the-art track surface installed at Warrior Stadium cannot accommodate the weight of floats b...

  • Consequences increase for illegal skateboarding

    Updated Oct 9, 2008

In the past, Sheriff’s deputies in Fallbrook have primarily issued verbal warnings to individuals illegally skateboarding and loitering on commercial properties. That level of tolerance is rapidly coming to an end, Sgt. Ron McCracken said. From this point on, after one warning is issued, skateboarders trespassing on private property will be arrested and taken to jail, or juvenile hall, depending on their age, he said. “I’m not against skateboarders, but when you can’t walk on the sidewalks safely, something has to be done,...
